Clontarf Aboriginal College
Absentee Line:
Campus Ministry
As a Catholic College in the Edmund Rice tradition, Clontarf Aboriginal College is a place of learning and understanding that respects Aboriginal culture and spirituality.
The Campus Ministry offered at the College links the Catholic faith and Aboriginal spirituality and culture, providing a variety of faith formation experiences which promote the Mission and celebrates the Catholic ethos and Aboriginal culture of the College. The College Sharing Our Faith and Culture Plan outlines key aspects and strategies for Campus Ministry.
Campus Ministry at Clontarf Aboriginal College is a collaborative partnership between the students, staff, families, community members and Aboriginal Catholic Ministry. With Christ as the guide and in the tradition of Edmund Rice, all staff are responsible for providing opportunities to meet the religious and spiritual needs of the students and whole school community.
The opportunities offered at the College enhance the Religious Education curriculum and include: Whole School Masses; Yeargroup Liturgies; Religious Education Week; Prayer; Yeargroup Retreats; Edmund Rice Feast Day; Aboriginal Catholic Ministry Partnership (which includes monthly masses held in the Clontarf Chapel on the third Sunday of each month, during school term at 4.45pm); Christian Service Learning (CSL); and Fundraising. The College is also in the process of developing a Sacramental program for students, liaising with Aboriginal Catholic Ministry.
The College has established itself as a leader in the area of Campus Ministry, within Catholic Education, receiving a LEAD Award for Discipleship for Religious Education Week 2017. A LEAD award is one of the highest awards, awarded to a school initiative that is innovative and exemplary and is open to all Catholic schools in Western Australia. This award is an honour and highlights Clontarf Aboriginal College as a leader in Catholic Education in Western Australia.
