Absentee Line:
Tertiary Entrance Class
The Tertiary Entrance Class (TEC) targets Year 11 – 12 students with high aspirations as they commence their senior secondary education. These students are already showing signs of academic success with high levels of attendance.
Through individualised case management in the areas of academic acceleration, subject selection and career guidance, students are encouraged to reach their potential in secondary school and work towards a university entrance.
The class can also include high achieving and motivated students undertaking vocational education and training (VET) school pathways, provided they meet the class selection criteria.
Students are provided with a safe and supportive learning environment and academic assistance. The environment fostered in the TEC enables students to develop a sense of ownership and pride in their education.
The subjects we are offering for 2017 through SIDE are:
- Business Studies
- Children, Family and Community Studies
- Human Biological Sciences
TEC Objectives
- Achieve a WACE
- Attend school regularly
- Achieve high grades and have high levels of literacy and numeracy
- Have a range of post school education, training and employment options
- Improved academic success
- Heightened self-esteem
Mr Dean Campbell, TEC Co-ordinator
“When I graduate from Clontarf Aboriginal College I want to go to university. The TEC excursion to Edith Cowan University convinced me to attend ECU to study business, teaching or nursing.”
